Bio:
Born in Chico, California, Samantha Francis (35) is a music instructor and a mixed media artist, dabbling in sculpture, charcoal, house paint, chalk, pencil & ink, as well as her favorite mediums, watercolor and acrylic. She has devoted the past 20 years focusing a majority of her work on the human body (specifically hands and portraiture), looking to gain a better understanding of physical expression through poses.
Samantha is also a professional singer & musician, currently performing with her partner Ben Ruttenburg in the acoustic duo The Sun Followers. Samantha has performed and contributed to a number of local bands and various musical endeavors, including with The Uncle Dad's Art Collective, Decades, Bogg, Cute As Hell, Phantom Hearts, QuasiMofos, Stereosparks, Chico Cabaret, Blue Room Theatre, Chico Theater Company, and many more. She’s been been a professional singer since the age of 23, and has a multitude of singing competitions, talent shows, choral and band concerts and musical theater performances under her belt that have helped develop her specific teaching style. She focuses on the communication between the brain and the body, building confidence, strengthening technique and obtaining a cohesive understanding of how the instrument of your choice works, applying these techniques to any genre of music while having fun doing so!
As a result of Samantha's creative leanings and interests, she has, over the years, developed skills in loom knitting, earring creation, and various other projects. Samantha wishes for you to enjoy this website as a display of her creative side as well as a means of contacting her for lessons, performances or commissioned work.
