Hello, my wonderful students & potential students!
Apart from teaching music lessons, I also perform full-time in a musical folk duo with my partner called “The Sun Followers”. It’s a difficult gray area to navigate, being a musician during this pandemic. To make a living, we have to book gigs and sing in public, but if I or my partner contract Covid, our capability to work efficiently is put on hold for weeks, potentially even longer. Like an athlete, our ability to perform is reliant upon our physical health. We must be realistic with ourselves about the precautions we can take at this time to keep us as safe as possible, while still accepting work.
As a vocal instructor/musician, one of the main things I try to impress on my students is maintaining physical health. With Covid is still affecting several people who are near and dear to me (vaccinated and unvaccinated), I work to stay as up to date as I can on what actions the CDC suggests to take in regards to Covid. This is not only for mine and my partner’s health, but for all of my students as well. While I am once again offering in-person lessons to select students, with flu season upon us, I encourage you to try the online lessons, especially if you are prone to seasonal sickness, or are in a public service position where you have physical contact with many individuals throughout the day. Though technology may be daunting for some, I can guarantee you that I have had excellent success and progress with the students I have worked with online. If you are among the group that has trouble with technology (believe me, I used to be one of them before I learned how simple it could be!), I offer a free “Tech Check” available to book online for your first session. During this time, we will dial in working with your electronic devices and make sure you are fully prepared for your first official music lesson while addressing any tech/preparation questions you may have. Feel free to read up more about “Tech Check” sessions on my online scheduler, which you can find on my website homepage under the “Book an Appointment” button in the “other” section at the bottom of the page.
I know everyone has their own comfort levels in regards to the virus and vaccinations, and I fully respect those opinions and decisions. I assure you that these precautions are being taken, as well as asked of you, because I care about the health and safety of you and others. I would be happy to speak with you personally on the subject to find a solution that works best for all parties. You can email me (SamFrancisCoCreations@gmail.com), text/call me (530-433-4608), or reach out via the contact box provided on my website. I will get back to you as soon as I can within appropriate work hours. Thank you for being understanding and flexible. I will work hard to keep you informed of changes and/or updates on my end as we all navigate our way through these unusual times.
